RAAF Amberley in 1971 and SQNLDR Ken Smith astride Snoopy's Kennel celebrates being the RAAF's first Phantom pilot to attain 1,000 Hours on F-4 fighters. This total includes about 700 Hours on exchange with the USAF.The first pilot to attain 1,000 hours on Phantoms was the then SQNLDR Lyall Klaffer which included flight time in the recce RF-4C.
