Nice 55j14 size 42

Looks nice-it's a repro. Based on a G-1, but 55J14's didn't have paperclip Conmars, or hanging loops like that-or labels saying 'shearling'. I believe Willis and Geiger did have at least one military contract, but I think that was for A-2's.

US Navy, but earlier ... M421, and M422, AN6552/AN-J-3A.

Weren't some of these W & G repros made by Lost Worlds? I think I read that in a previous thread, or maybe on FL...

Hey, thanks for the information. It's too small for me, however as far as reproductions go it looks nice. I'd sooner have that reproduction jacket than the latest military offerings. They got the knits and pocket flaps correct for the period, so attention to detail is present. I would like to see the back of the collar. Of all the G-1s produced the 55j14s have more character than WEPs, and I guess I should add the obligatory "in my humble opinion". I really focus on Nylon jackets, but here in the Pacific Northwest good leather is really necessary. I have a bottom of the line steerhide Aero Flight Manf. that has served me very well for all purpose use. I have an original U.S. Navy M-422A Flight Jacket by Gordon & Ferguson that I bought from Roger Moore many, many years ago that has to be my favorite leather. And lastly a 55j14 "repo", "PX" or "private purchase" manufactured by Flying Equipment Co. that I picked up for $26 from eBay shipped. The mouton has to be replaced, but it has the "SPEC.55J14 (AER)" on the nomenclature tag as opposed to the "CONTRACT 261953" generic tag. I figure it was made in the early 50s and was a replacement jacket. The reason I like this jacket is due to the fact that it was made in the USA, made from period hide by the same seamstresses on the same machines of that series. I saw that "What is your favorite G-1" thread but did not post up there to avoid a flaming. Being an underdog here is plain foolish. As far as the "ugly repo" comment I would have to say that from the years of collecting military gear I have degraded myself to the point of where a PBY-5a looks beautiful. I tend to eschew fashion & beauty and lean towards the historic practicality. Hey, I must sound like Stu!

Really? But it's "100% Authentic" and he "doesn't deal in fakes"
