It's not every day you come across a N.O.S. example like this G-1 from the A series, the rarest of the spec 7823.

Only two contracts were awarded for this specific series, and they were produced in fiscal year 1961.

In my experience, this contract; DA 36-243-QM(CTM)8834-C-61, is the scarcest of both, as I've only seen a couple surfacing over the years.

On another note, this was the first contract awarded to Irvin B. Foster & Sons after Irvin split from his brother Lou (of L.W. Foster) and started his own company. Irvin would receive 5 contracts for the G-1 from 1961 to 1966.

Needless to say, finding a jacket in its sealed bag after 6 decades is extremely rare, and without doubt, it would be nearly impossible to upgrade.

By the way, I have no plans to open the bag, but from external inspection all the parts are immaculate.

Enough said, enjoy it.

Best regards,
Jorge

I was bidding on that jacket while on holiday with my girlfriend.
We were sat at some restaurant over lunch and I was counting the last seconds to put in that last bid, but would you know... When it hit the wire there was no reception.
True story. Jorge has friends in high places.
I know that feeling, I was in South America during the auction. You cannot imagine how unreliable is the internet there, definitely adds a good dose of adrenaline... o_O

Funny fact is that, Irvin "A" and Irvin/Ralph "B" are quite similar externally.
JFK had a Ralph "B" as well but it is not the same jacket Bobby is wearing in the pic.

JFK's "B" jacket has the patch on the right chest.

RFK's jacket has the patch on the left chest (it could be an "A" or "B").
