this is a nice one and I bet it will sell for quite a high price as some Police jackets do!

Nice jacket. Wouldn't it be more likely 1940's than 30's ?
It has the later tag with the green hills background which was being used into the 1950's.
The greyish cross section of the leather on the belt hoop suggests it's chrome tanned leather.
Late 40's would be my guess but I'm sure others know more :geek:

Thanks, Jon!

I'm very sure that it is chrome tanned leather. I've got a few other moto jackets that are verified to be 1930's vintage and many details match up with this one. I put it at 1939 to 1940 but I certainly am very interested in this sort of input to hone in on accuracy. Thanks very much for the post!

Looking at the zip and the details I would date it to 1940-1. This type of Talon zip was used on jackets between 1939-41 fiscal years. Good luck with it George.

Good luck on the sale...
However, your page contains one of the things that makes ebay a PITA to search: "(A2,A-2,B-3,WWII)"
None of those items, with the possible exception of "WWII" (being in the era of) has anything to do with the jacket! It wreaks havoc on trying to actually find things you're looking for :)
That said, I know a young man watching that auction with interest!

Andrew,

Thanks for the input. The zipper and the trim fit were the two things that make me date it to that time as well. Also, the construction is more meticulous and of higher quality than jackets made during or after the war. Thanks to all the members who have provided comments or feedback. It's much appreciated.
