That looks like a very nice AN-J-4. Has the zipper been replaced with a correct WW2 type ?

the zip is a "lightning" zip does up the English way

Carl. That's a WW2 Lightning zipper. It could be a period replacement. I've seen British zippers fitted to US jackets before. I'm sure they fitted whatever was to hand at the time.
