Hi Marcel, The patch on Tibbets' jacket is from his original squadron, the 12th. He was assigned to the Panama Canal before he was assigned to the 404th FG. Many of the original 404th members had 200+ flying hours from other combat squadrons. Tibbets was originally listed as MIA, but was eventually listed as KIA. He was killed at Werl Airdrome just over the German border after shooting down an HE-111that had just taken off. His wingman had not followed him down, so no one knew exactly what happened to him. He is now buried at the Ardennes cemetary not far from you. He was my dad's best friend. Later, Tom

Hi Marcel, You are correct, I gave you the wrong squadron. It should be the fifteenth FS, 53rd FG. My apologies. Tom
