Modified G1’s?

Hi all, currently theres a g1 on ebay, I’m thinking late 50s early 60s due to the poked in USN on the wind flap? But it has a knit collar, like on an MA1 or such. Wondering if anyone has seen an example like this?

Its a hacked up G1. Seen quite a few.

It was originally issued by the United States Navy as evidenced by the USN marking on the leather tab. I am not an expert on these types of jackets so any help in identifying the precise age of the jacket will be appreciated.

That’s a 7823(AER). Pretty early (50’s/early 60’s) G-1. It certainly wasn’t issued with that collar.

The collar looks like it's in the same shape as the rest of the knits. You'd think it might have a little more life on it.
