Military sleeved 'jerkin' - unusual ww1 item?

Not a standard British Army leather jerkin even before the sleeves may or may not have been added, style, cut, number of buttons all different and not sure about the WD stamps everywhere. Could be a private purchase type but the idea of the leather jerkin was to provide some warmth with its wool liner and this doesn't have such a liner. I have seen jerkins in WW2 with sleeves added from greatcoats and even with added sheepskin collars but British WW1 jerkins seemed to remain as issued. As for being 'near mint condition'...!

Looks like it was made from other garments, as the war department stamps overlap one another at the seams . It's also very small.

I agree. I looks a little like a WW 2 RAF ground crew leather jerkin with sleeves added. The inappropriate use of "mint" by an increasing number of sellers on Ebay is becoming a trend.

Ironically, my favourite outlet (Old Town), who make up most of my daily wardrobe, used to make one. Sadly, they no longer offer it.
