Marston Mat Find

I was driving around an old abandoned world war two era Navy base here in Charleston and came across this Marston Mat sticking out of the ground! LOL! Probably for driving heavy equipment? I don’t think they landed aircraft at that location as there was an airbase here as well.

Just think what other stuff might be buried around that area. Might be time to rent a metal detector
