Hi all,

Been a while since I've found time to post something. Here is a nice pic for you of Lt John S Blyth 22nd Squadron 7th Photo Group who was flying F-5s (P-38 variant) at the time and transferred over to the 14th Squadron to fly Spitfire MK XIs in April 1944. The flight jacket is from the 22nd Squadron. The 7th Photo Group was based at Mount Farm, Oxfordshire, UK. Here the link for some nice shots of PR Spitfire XI.

Great picture, very smooth leather. Anybody venture a guess as to the maker, from the eps and collar alone

HH Roughwear. From the photo it seems to have the typical collar shape, epaulet, collar stand and Talon zip. Possibly the 27752 contract.

Interesting hide. I like it, a dullish finish and seemingly supple.

I'll go with the 1401-P due to lack of contrast between stitching and hide and also the lack of the curvature, or rather the little kick, at the collar tips the 27752 has. Also being a b/w shot the hide when compared with the colour of the shirt and cap is looking more russet than seal. It has to be a RW or maybe even a Werber, it looks a lot like this:http://www.goodwearleather.com/photos/Werber_07_46/collar2.jpg

Thanks for posting Oose, I'm rather fond of the 7th Photo particularly with the P-38's (F-5's).

This jacket appears to have a Talon zip and the 1401-p usually had Crowns. If it's a RW it would be from one of these contracts, which used Talons- W535ac16159, W535ac23380 or the 27752. Not all 27752 jackets were seal, some of the early ones in the contract were russet. The collar stitching all varied on this contract as well, although typically the stitching on the collar was further from the edge than on the four previous contracts.
