Low re-sale on a GW again

Third jacket of recent months not making the same prices as used Eastmans. That has to make you think twice before investing $1500 on a jacket you may not like but cannot return.....

HA! I saw this and just posted another thread myself...
In fact, there are a good few Eastmans also for sale at the mo.

It's all about brands on eBay and Good Wear is not as well known as Eastman. Particularly in Europe. But later Eastman A2s can be had on eBay for around the £400 mark and a bit under too.

Neither look any better than an older ELC..or other maker. Though to be fair, some of JC’s earlier jackets were not the same quality as later made ones.
I had a FQHH GW. Had to sell it: too bloody heavy.
Not sure hides that thick were used back in the day on Govt contract.
Anyone done any weight comparisons between jackets ? Perfect for the OCD sufferers to chew on .... ;)

Certainly have! But not measured.
I also had one GW, a RW from 2005 that was thinker than many top-tier jackets since. Felt quite similar to an older LW Dubow I had and some Real McCoy A-2s currently on the shelf.
Earlier Aero's and ELCs were also thinker and smoother than the Warhorse, Vicenza, Shinki and Liberty leathers of today....

IMHE, we should differentiate GW and DD which are often sold as GW...but no real GW.
Also, there are preferences for GW ( and all other ) A-2’s ...BUT without patches and w/o stitching holes or decorations of all kind... for many a “no go” if s-holes, painted, patched etc...
Real maker labeled A-2’s and a lot of grain are also better for sale than house branded A-2’s... same for GW, ELC etc.
These are factors to consider on top of the real sizing when pricing a GW or any other jacket on the market...44”-46” are wanted, others much less.
Finally, all my GW’s were or are Shinki leather, my two DD’s were thicker and bulkier, hence heavier...last both sold for less than 300 Euro, one here, one on a aviation show.
The grainy, “ original maker” original GW A-2 ( 44”- 46”) above 500 ++ Euro, two here, several others via “contacts”.
