just for general info, is this a copy or a ww2 era jacket ? ..

The jacket's a little scruffy, but appears to be original.

The artwork however .....

I agree with David. The B15 is original but the art work looks modern and has been done for commercial reasons I suspect.

This seller has a cottage industry in Thailand, he takes flight type jackets and copies artwork on them then puts them up on eBay. Because of the way he paints the artwork, they usually have that 'period' folkart look to them. Most of his painted jackets are cheaper leather look-a-like A2 or G1 'type' reproductions. When he gets a "nice" repro jacket or original jacket, he usually sells them as is without painting them. For him, the start price seems way high, he usually starts off in the $ 50-60 range.

Sorry to dissagree Dave. Wrong zipper. No pocket snaps. No inside pocket. No label. No way ! I agree about the artwork though. :)

Peter, when do you think it dates from then? The Conmar zipper is an original from the late war and appears to be original to the jacket. It is also off-set as opposed to the central placement of zips on post war civi jackets. However, I can't see the snaps or inside pocket which suggests its not an issued jacket.

Andrew, I always thought those bell shaped Conmars were early war as it's identical to the one fitted to my 27753 A-2. The ones fitted to B-15's had a different puller. However I'm sure all types of WW2 zippers were available postwar as surplus. The zipper being offset does not signifiy originality as I once owned a dreadful B-15 copy with an offset zipper and a AAF shoulder decal. Yup, I was fooled into buying it. I could not hazard a guess at when the jacket was made. Probably no later than mid 50's. After my B-15 misfortune I would never consider buying one without a label and even then, beware. If the label says "Fitzwell sportswear, original type" then it's a copy.

That's the Dude from Thailand who sells stuff that's often (probably with good reason) been questioned.
