Lost World's A-1 in a Size 40 up on eBay

You're very welcome! It's always a pleasure interacting with the members of VLJ.

Alan, that's a very astute observation. I hadn't even noticed that detail.

John, yes, the sleeve came fairly short, but it works for me since I have shorter arms on a longer torso. It actually fits me perfectly all around. The leather portion of the sleeve is actually fairly standard for a size 40 but the knits have been attached with less "meat" than some others, so it can definitely be lengthened by redoing the knits and sewing them in with more length, and the whole sleeve will still remain proportional.

Best,

George

This jacket looks superior to the later ones, the Bakelite buttons are a nice touch. Better than horn IMO.
The leather also looks to have more character and less of that painted look.

I got my son a LW 30's Half Belt last year. He's been wearing the hell out of it and it's looking great. That leather when new is not appealing to me, but if it gets used, it does wear in well. I'd assume the same for this A-1. It does take some effort though - no hanger queens!

The HH on LW jackets is definitely unique and feels like it can deflect bullets. I've never had the patience to wear one long enough to truly break it in, so will need to have the patience to do that someday. But having just gotten an ELC 0.50 Cal proto and a FINE GW, it's tough to imagine when I'll actually have time to season a LW's properly. The only thing I know for certain is that no original A-2 that I've ever had was made from anything like it. But it certainly has beautiful grain and makes wonderful noises when moving around in one.
