This site is tremendous for finding unique shots of VLJ interest:http://images.google.com/hosted/life
Such as these SAC shots, a bonanza of nylon and corresponding caps worn to illustrate styles:

Great photos Dean. It'll keep me busy the rest of the morning.

Quiz for Dean. What contract is that L-2B on the left in the first photo? :D

How about: Tops Apparel 1957 model MIL SPEC 7448B? Love his, I presume, yellow cap, too. I scan ebay constantly for those style.

Blue Anchor Overall Co. MIL-J-7448A. Crown zippers give it away. ;)

Noted, for future reference. Crown zippers have that squat oval look to the puller, eh? And of course if the shot was close enough, I could read "crown"on them, too, I realize.

Agree. Pics are sweet.

Not so fast, you two! George, didn't the original Tops Apparel 7448B we saw in St. Pete have Crown zippers? That's how Buzz Rickson's reproduced it as well. I was thinking this jacket could be either the Tops or Blue Anchor.

Note to self- Do complete research before posting answer to ones own question.

Forgot all about that one Jim. Thanks. ;)

I didn't mention that I researched Buzz before I answered, thinking that was cheating. I still didn't make use of the crown zippers as a clue though, I simply guessed it was the Tops Apparel, since it was the only one I knew of. But I feel slightly vindicated here, Jim. Thanks!

agree Jim the tops did have crowns the only way to know for sure is to see the stitching on the pull on the front of the jacket. Blue anchor had different stitch pattern than the Tops (believe it was a circle). However, one cannot see that for sure on the photo.

I think you're right, George. I'm pretty sure my Tops MA-1 has the concentric circle stitching on the leather puller tab, as did the Skyline 7448Cs I've owned (albeit on Conmar zips). The Blue Anchor L-2B I once owned did not:
