Liar Liar Pants on fire

My thoughts are more along the lines of -let there be a very healthy dose of ignorance in the ebay community, that way the good stuff that we want gets confused with the junk so there is less competition.
My best buys have always been from sellers who haven't a clue what they are selling !

Just sent him message asking about the flag, construction and label. We'll see what he has to say.

Well, I see the seller ended the auction.
Hopefully nobody contacted him behind the scenes to buy it.

Looks like this guy probably did a brief research on the A-2 and got a little excited when he saw some prices. Based on his feedback, I don't think he sells flight jackets on a regular basis so probably just a little over-enthusiastic, Thought I'd do a little research before labeling him a liar. He probably ended it in good faith after a few comments.

He sent me a message, that it will be pulled, and that his discription was out of ignorance not intended to cheat anyone, and for the overly sensitive, liar liar pants on fire was ment as a joke.

Good news. And if anyone here is that thin-skinned, they best find a new place to hang...

Glad he had the sensibility to end it. On the other hand, this research should have been done before posting it for sale IMO. Ignorance isn't a virtue.

Problem is, today, the big hits on TV are those where people find things in basements, attics, and second-hand stores, buy for pennies, and make big dollars! Everyone wants in on it. So someone sees something they think will be a diamond in the ruff and gets excited. That's what I think happens a lot these days...

Finally got around to researching how many stars were on the flag back in the 40's, eh?
If his uncle is still alive, guess he'll be having a good sit down talk with him now.
Of course, I believe he states something like "this jacket was worn by my Uncle, who was a member of a bomber crew during the war" .
The uncle wore it in 1998.

I do it as well, if I can't find abundant info on an item, I'll call it rare in a listing, like my AF Parka ending today. Very little info available on it and the first I've seen, so it's gotta be rare, right? I'll also ask for any info that another member can provide and post it. This guy just has no idea and who's got the hours to spend researching one item to get the complete story on it?

If your'e asking that much money on something and don't even look at 50 stars as a hint, I'd say it's being a lazy-ass. Of course I don't know everything, but I don't sell things I don't know about - simple as that. I'll wait until I know enough not to get ripped off or rip someone off. That's the fair thing to do. But to each his own.
