Just picked up a Foster G-1. Has the white USN under collar but no USN on wind flap. Will this help date the jacket..I read the 7823 was from 51-60...?????
Picks to follow getting dark...but amazing goatskin and very roomy..

Thanks guys

This is my first tru vintage G-1...the others have been post 68 dated...never kept them as they were too big/small, this fits perfect and has great leather...missing both pocket buttons :( easily fixed..

oh and the cap... a rescued A-3 that came with the jacket (along with a Crusader patch)...the repairs have been hand stitched all the seems re stitched, the white tape inside restitched..this thing has been worn and worn hard...but some one took the time to keep repairing it..so now it is my turn

This is a very nice Foster Sportwear G-1. The 74471 contract dates to 1951. Punched "USN" was used on the windflap of G-1s from the mid 1950s. It was a feature of the Cagleco 28656A from 1956 fro example.
