as we have all seen, most original spiewak a-2s are the worse for wear. there are exceptions, and this is one. bin set at $1200. item# 280740288222 size 42, but by the measurement [spiewaks were made to a large pattern] could fit up to a size 44. happy hunting

I wonder if it held up so well because it is goatskin.

That's usually the problem with a Spiewak ... they were all goatskin, not always of the best quality.

The hides Spiewak used tend to be inferior to those used by RW and Doniger for example. Cable goat and Spiewak goat A2s rarely appear these days without some signs of decay. This Spiewak A2 is certainly a better example, though.

Spiewak is the only contract that I have to say I don't really care for at all. I find the fit to be very clumsy and unflattering, droop shoulders and large belly, floppy/flat collar and very angled down sleeves. I owned an original size 44 that was in at least as good a shape as this one, if not better. It was really impressive on a hanger but I never wore it and ended up selling it. The goat was very light weight, with the sleeves, the entire jacket lifted up when I lifted my arms.

That Spiewak certainly looks nice in your picture. I understand the frustration with the design of the arms though. That's a problem with the modern Coopers. I have a Cooper A-2 that's actually too large for me that I use when I'm working out in the yard. If I wear my issued Cooper A-2 that fits correctly it rides up even if I'm doing something like raking leaves. I don't wear my Eastman when I'm doing work although it would probably get me that "timeworn" look faster.
