Is this 44 Doniger the real deal?

Interesting knits, very similar to the 2 tone fleck in my Doniger/McGregor AN-J-3. Can't guage the collar overly well but from the description, tag, seems accurate, in Cape too. what do the more knowledgable think?

measurements given seem more a 42 than a 44?

Yes, it is a civilian McGregor (Doniger) jacket from ca. 1942. :ugeek:

It used to belong to me (sold on the Forum, then subsequently on EBay).
The measurements are fine for a larger 42/ 44 with longish arms.
All original except the labels (bought from John Chapman in lieu of a McGregor Sportswear label - seen on the civvy AN-J-3 that I sold to Matt) and hand tacked in).

It was in great condition - some weakness at the back of the shoulder (slight delamination near epaulette not really shown here), but it was too good to be a regular wearer for me (and I couldn't bring myself to shorten the sleeves.

The cape (more likely cabretta) is much thinner than that used on the AN-J-3.

I'll be interested to see what it makes this time...

Well, somebody took a hit on that one - a good deal.

Did anybody here buy it?

What's that old saying, "Even a blind squirrel .....finds an Acorn once in a while".
My Acorn is on it's way.

I wasn't quite sure what I had, but I contacted Andrew (Roughwear) after the auction and he was kind enough to sort it out for me.

So Dr H......tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly,... about your old jacket.
