Crikey, he seems quite pleased that he's completely wrecked it with
'genuine' badges - restorable maybe?

I dont see any reason why it wouldnt be restorable. I just hope he hasn't glued those patches on as well. Collar seems unusally round, looks like a Links collar but I'm not sure if they made Irvins later in the war.

They certainly did make late War Irvins. I have one from the 1944-5 period with the typical rounded collar. The jacket is restorable, but the insignia is likely to leave traces on the jacket. Why on earth did the guy put it there in the first place as they are all out of keeping with the jacket?

People do strange things if they don't know what they are dealing with. Look at the garishly lined A-2's that regularly appear on ebay. Says he paid nearly £200 twenty five years ago. The shop must have had big windows ! I will be surprised if he gets that for it now.

Spare me the hypocrisy. Looks great, and all those badges could be removed avec problem in about 30 secs. Still, I won't be biddin' on it.
