Irvin, OK?

This Irvin looks reasonable but I wish the seller hadn't removed the cool biker patch. The addition of the leather zipper pulls is undisclosed but a nice touch, I suppose.

The leather pulls can of course be removed and are made from an Irvin trouser pocket! I did remove the biker patch as it's a much later addition to the jacket. If you want the patch JDAM, make me an offer. :)

Not much interested in the jacket minus the patch. In the interests of full disclosure, perhaps you might mention in your auction that the pulls are recent additions by you. Who knows, there are plenty of people out there who might think they're original unless you specify that they're not...

If you are interested in the jacket you are welcome to bid. The patch can be re-attached if you wish, but as it's a much later addition and IMO inappropriate for a wartime Irvin. I have revised the listing about the pulls as I always take care in accurately describing items for sale and this is reflected in my 5 star feedback. I appreciate your interest in the auction and hope to take a similar interest in yours.

Throwing stones in the glass house you built yourself Andrew?
Kudos to JDAM.

It's rather sad you have nothing better to do than snipe at me again. Why not contribute a something positive to the forum?

As my grandfather used to say: If you can't bring anything to the table, better stay away.

JDAM, if you had bid and then won this jacket, are you saying you would have left the bike patch on it?

Hi, yes I would have left the patch on it. I collect bikers jackets and the Irvin, as most know, was a classic piece of biker's wear in the post war period. My grandfather used to wear an Irvin when riding his Triumph back in the 50's. Similarly, I have A-2 patched with bikers/Angels badges and bikers (Buco) jackets patched with squadron patches. Anyway, it's no big deal really.

I'd have probably taken it off I'm afraid. Have you read Ted Simon's 'Jupiter's Travels'? He wore an Irvin for his round-the-world motorbike trip, but if memory serves, the jacket didn't make it...................

And I think it's rather sad that you start threads about others selling jackets with unmentioned repairs or replaced parts, and then get caught get doing the same thing yourself several days later.

The facts are simple. There are no unmentioned repairs on my jacket. I have amended the description about the leather pullers which was simply an ommission and not intended to deceive. The description in your friend's auction you refer to was not changed despite discussion on the forum.

JDAM I really think your making a 'mountain out of a molehill' - this site isn't for sniping at each other is it? Andrew's been open about what he's done and at the end of the day he's offered the patch plus he does own the jacket so can do as he wishes so c'mon, lighten up!!

cheers
Wayne

Johnwayne, sorry, I just voiced an opinion and made a couple of minor, factual observations about a jacket. Like I said in my last post, it's really no big deal. Happy happy.

Rich, yes, I've read Jupiter's travels - a fun book about great travels. Everyone should read it.

JDAM out.

I don't think JDAM said anything out of order; just that he'd have preferred the jacket with the patch left on because his interest is in motorcyle gear. He would see the act of removing it as the same as most forum members would view someone removing a squadron patch from a WWII private purchase jacket. But as Andrew would have seen the patch as something that didn't belong and was detrimental to the jacket I can understand him removing it. The addition of leather pulls to the zippers is neither here or there.
