Interesting A2 on EBay

I’ve heard that some of the Norwegian pilots who escaped to England during the war had A2 jackets, but I don’t know if this is one of them. Of course it could be a private purchase one . Anyone have any thoughts about it ?

Quite the curio. I'd be interested to know more as well. The placement of the wings seems bizarre. Also, maybe it's just the back photo, but those waist knits seem pretty tall, no?

If it's a private purchase jacket, would it be likely to have been made in the war years? With material shortages, and focus on the production of war goods, would it be likely that a manufacturer had the time and resources to run out their own copy of an A-2 for the civilian/private purchase market during times of conflict? No idea.

I've seen quite a number of photos of Canadian airmen during the war, and the overwhelming majority show fashion consistent with the Brits - sweaters and battle blouses for the fighter chaps, and Irvins for the bomber crews. I've only ever seen a couple of photos with a Canadian airman in A-2's. I certainly don't know for a fact, but would suggest it's unlikely that some kind of A-2 was ever standard military issue for the Canadian fellows and trainees who spent their time here.
