Hurricane Hunters

Probably not everyone's "cup of tea", but I thought some might find this mildly interesting:

The patches they're wearing is the same as my avatar. That is the emblem of the 53rd Reconnaissance Squadron, Very Long Range, Weather (aka the Hurricane Hunters). I've posted this to the Weather Recon veteran's group and the historian there thinks it maybe from the timeframe when the unit was designated the 373rd Reconnaissance Squadron (Very Long Range) Weather.

Anyway, a nice mix of jackets from the immediate post-WWII period.

Got to admire flight crew who seek out the worst of weather and intentionally go fly near or through it. Nice photo, thanks for sharing it with us.

I'm a weather nerd...especially tropical weather. Here's one of my favorite A-2s with a 6th Weather Wing patch.

The patches on the cloth jackets appear to be 5 inch and the leather jackets possibly 6 , so it looks like both sizes were used/worn
