Hmmmmmm... Claiming to be an Original...

I'm thinking it's not an original. Look at the placement of the leather hanger. They are never up on the collar, always on the lining. I've also never heard of that maker or seen anything like it.

Civilian maker I'm sure.

This appears to be a original with a replaced liner and label from a repro maker.

Regarding the leather hanger, it is currently on the lower collar area, but you can see where it was originally stitched through on the photo of the back of the jacket. It's the normal area.

The value is definitely less with the repair work that has been done, but it looks to me like a original jacket.

For the record, this is not mine, and I have no interest in it at all.

It's an original alright but re-lined in rayon too, and what looks like a bad case of red rot. I don't have the experience to comment on the artwork but if it's not original either then the jacket is not worth very much.

This is an original goatskin Spiewak A2 that was relined and the position of the hanger changed decades ago. So the claims are correct!

Artwork looks original to me as well. 85% of all Spiewak jackets I have seen, seem to have leather issues. I personally would never want to own a original Spiewak for that reason.

I agree about the artwork Jeff. I too have seen many Spiewak A2s with rot, but am lucky to own a near mint original without any! :D
