Heck of an RAF grouping

Great collection. The early Irvin Air Chute jacket has certainly seen considerable action! It will be interesting to see if it sells at the listed price.

Nice grouping. Pity there is no paperwork to add provenance.

I was thinking the same thing. If there were photos and paperwork with this set, I would have some real interest. I've always wanted a nice RAF grouping, but this one doesn't have the extra provenance I would want. Great group for what it is though!

Nice grouping indeed, but I think they went overboard on the amount of photos. I also have a question about the badge on the hat. Is that a king's crown or a queen's crown? If it's a queen's crown, wouldn't the hat be from the era after Queen Elizabeth took the throne?

I'd say that's definitely King's Crown Stony.

The ribbons on the left are an Atlantic Star and Italy Star, which don't concur with his description of France and Germany, but he does say that the sqn operated over the Canaries and Italy. They look pretty crudely attached but I suppose they could be original.

I couldn't tell for sure what the hat badge was, so thanks for clearing that up. I also had a question about the ribbons being original to the uniform.

It`s one hell of a price for a grouping which has no provenance at all.It would appear that the only thing that is named is the dog tags.None of the uniform items or flying kit are named. So while not doubting the authenticity, the grouping is only worth the value of the component parts, most of which seem to be in poor condition.I wonder why the seller took so many pictures of a worn BD with the badges removed and no pictures of the oxygen mask, helmet,Irvin etc?
Also it`s not possible to see if the oxygen mask is a G or an H type and if it`s an H type is it wartime dated or post war ?

Just my opinion though, old age breeds cynicism
