Grouping going for big

Fantastic collection. That black widow patch is one of the best of the USAAF patches.

It's a lot of moolah but a great grouping.

I missed the start of this one. So was it listed at a low price and no reserve and a BIN of over $4k? Great collection and nice to see it all stay all together.

I missed the start as well Andrew but apparently it started at $US19.43. I reckon this is going to go for a sizeable amount. A lot this big and (although I'm no expert on USAAF bits and bobs) P-61 stuff seems to have an almost cult-like following so I think we might see an eye-wateringly high winning bid for this.

How's life up in the tropics? Hope you and the family are all well. You need another trip down to your old hunting grounds mate ;)

Yes Tim, I suspect you're right with this. Perhaps this could kick off your AAF collection and dust off that old RAF habit of yours (just joking of course). It is a great concise collection (and it'd be tough not to want to deck yourself out in it if it were the winner and it was your size) :)

Sadly I've not had a chance to get back down but barely a day goes by without some reminder that I need to get away. I was going to assist the Shrine with their Bomber Command display in October but I've found someone with better kit to help them. That's another story so drop me a pm and ill let you know about it.

I reckon I'd have to sell the car to cover this one Andrew!

Will do. We haven't spoken in yonks, well overdue for a catch up :)

A very nice set. It's definitely getting up there in price. I asked the seller, and there was no buy it now when it was first listed.

I am sure he did not want to exclude any of his "friends" from the opportunity to bid.....and bid

This is a nice grouping and I am curious as anyone to see what the final number is going to be.

I know a black widow pilot that is still living and I've seen his patched and painted jacket a couple of times and would love to get my hands on it. On the back is a black panter jumping through a cresent moon with mountains in the background. The front has the black panter patch, but I can't remember which squadron it is. It is a European theater squadron though.

I guess he could have a few. I see one of the bidders has 37k+ feedbacks. Not the average eBay punter.

I'm sure that is probably true! I've heard from some good sources that this seller has done that in the past. The best advice with any eBay auction is to only bid what you personally think it's worth.

So it went for just over $6.5K. Tidy sum but you'd have to imagine that it's a sound investment.
