Grais Flightmaster

After watching my second favorite series "Archer" I became obsessed with the jacket he wears one season:

It didn't take me long to figure out that the actual jacket this is modeled on is the Grais Flightmaster. What a cool jacket! IMO as great in its own way as the old military stuff we love so much. Here it is in all its glory:

I think someone (ahem!) should copy this jacket. Its made to be worn a bit large- has square shoulders and to my mind is a great design- not a copy but just a 50s version of flying jacket.

Schott made and still makes a jacket similar to this but it doesn't have the ingenious pocket design and just looks a bit too clunky with snaps on the eps and really high pocket flaps. The newer version has a silly biswing back which just doesn't go along with the crudeness of the overall design. The Grais is perfect. It just exudes adventure and airworthiness. Similar to the Indie Jones jacket but not made up. I know Aero and Eastman make civilian flying jackets but they don't have this design and they have fur collars.

I see these on Ebay and Etsy but never in a large 46. I'm waiting to pounce...

Neat jacket design - I remember seeing Archer wearing that in the Golden Monkey season. At the time I thought they wanted him to be wearing an A-2 but didn't know what they were doing. I shouldn't be surprised that they were very deliberate about it. :D
