This looks to be a bargain, relined, with new referb size tag sewn in, looks in really good knick especially the mouton. I think $400 is a steal, and a decent size

Excuse my ignorance (learning more about USN jackets), but what part of the pattern identifies it as a G&F?

From Roger's sizing chart, a G&F 44 (in his possession) is:

M-422a, Gordon & Ferguson size 44
Front Back Front Back
Pit to Pit Pit to Pit Shoulder Length Length Sleeve

23.50 23.00 19.50 25.50 26.25 27.00

Does anybody have any info for a 42 in this pattern? Is the pit to pit a solid 22?

Hopefully the 42 has shorter sleeves

Nope...

Apparently: Pit to pit is 20 1/2 inches. Sleeve length is 22 inches. Half shoulder measurement is 6 inches. Back length is 26 inches.

Too small for me...

22" sleeves? Sounds like it was made for someone with T. rex arms.

Didn't bother looking that far after I'd seen the chest measurement.
I guess the arm is the pit to cuff.

Sounds like a size 38 or very small 40. It appears to have been rebuilt at some stage. The goatskin looks ok with out issues.

Many thanks - so I should probably still go for a 44" (with short sleeves!).
I need to try one of these things on...
Is there anybody in the SE of England with a 42" or a 44" G&F?
Thanks
Ian

Andrew, could you post the measurements please? Does it compare with a 42 in an A-2 pattern or wear larger because of the bi-fold?
If I'm going to Kent I'd be grateful if I could try it for size please. My AN-J-3 is marked 40, but appears a size larger, but I don't how typical this is for bi-fold patterns.

Hello Ian,
if you need any more measurements from my G&F - it's a 416 contract size 42- just let me know, and I'll get it as soon as I get home from work tonight.

I have just posted a review here Ian.

Size 42 original A2s varied in size as you know Ian. The G&F jacket is longer in the body, by about 1.5" and has longer sleeves, again by about 1.5". The pit measurement is similar to many wartime size 42 A2s, which vary mainly from 22" to 23". The bi-swing back makes it very comfortable for driving in.

You are very welcome to pop along and see it in the flesh.
