This eBayer deals with contrailsforchrist, and potentially part of a little jacket rotation scam to get the optimum sales price? Christ/Christian/Christmas...all a big conspiracy really. Go nuts! But BPT (be prepared to) watch it get pulled or sell for more
than retail...Nice jacket all the same...

Yeah, I wondered if there was a connection between "contrails..." and this seller.
Came across the original auction...saw it was cancelled then re-listed.

No relation between the two. This seller is a medivac pilot, and on the weekends he has a service of flying tourists in his PT-17 biplane from the family hanger. He's bought numerous jackets from me, and is the fellow wearing the SAT on my site. The other fellow was quite apologetic after the forum member bought the cowhide A-2, and gave a discount on it because he thought the info was right (to the satisfaction of the buyer). Both unrelated fellows, and I have no idea why this jacket was re-listed. He sold a 2009 RW 27752 last week with full-period eBay sale. He bought a number of jackets from me in 2009, and then a small crop of brand new jackets, and he sees the improvements in techniques and materials.

The wear on this jacket on eBay is from numerous flights and air shows. Not many jackets have this kind of usage. No christian conspiracy, just his name.

The post did not state they were one and the same seller. There is a just a lot of attention going their way recently with regard to the hides/zippers/pulled auctions and some crazy prices. A few sellers indirectly tied to them are relisting the same jackets as well adding to a dubious eBay web. The personal lives were never under scrutiny, just the eBay ethics for the GW A-2 and the ELC House NOS Crown A-2. No revisions since either. Ninety percent of the recent posts have been inadvertently related to ethics, be they today or during WWII when the industries were eager to capitalise on some hasty Government spending. No change these days either. The Military Machine is still cranking.

Will just wait and see how the auctions all pan out...

The bid is already up to 400. Guess I'll be putting in for a new one. Regards

I would anticipate mid $600s at the very least. A long way to go yet..maybe it will run its course? ;)

I can't tell what hide was used. Some sort of horse but is it the reddish Japanese hide? Its looks pretty red in the photos.

Ah, that's a good observation John - I'd assumed Vermont Espresso, but it looks like I'm off beam.

I ended up snagging this one. I just got it yesterday, and I'm quite impressed. John really did a wonderful job, and the horsehide is incredible!

All in all, very happy with it.

Enjoy, and thanks for saving me from the wrath of my wife, I maxed out at $651 ;) .
Fun to know it ended up with a VLJ member.

I am sorry to outbid you! I hate bidding against VLJ members, which is why I rarely look at this section of the forum. I had questions about the hide, and was wondering if anyone here had noticed the auction...

I had wanted a GW A-1 for a while (I have a Few A-1) and jumped when this one came up. I understand JC's using cape these days, but the horsehide does me just fine. It's really fantastic leather.

I'll post pics one of these days...
