It is from a member here. I've traded emails over it. He chose to put it on eBay for a wider market.
And yes, the measurements are correct. He knows its one of Jon's earlier efforts. He can't explain why the 48 tagging.
Funny, there's a run of the mill ELC RW running concurrent to this, and has twice the current price of this GW.
Go figure.

This jacket is the very first A-2 that I made with horsehide. At some point, it must have been treated with hot water, as it's much smaller now than when I had made it. I made the chest more like 26"x26", which is common for a WWII size 48 A-2. Pedro (a former forum member) let me borrow his original size 48 Aero, and that's how I got this pattern.

The leather is Horween horsehide in a very dark pigment seal brown, which had been rejected by Avirex for being too dark. I bought some of it, and made a number of jackets that would have had this dark color. I didn't yet have copies of original maker labels, so that's why it has an older GW label.

Jeff Thurston bought it from me. One can see, as we are both over 6" tall, that the jacket looked large on us. I'm always surprised by how often people do hot water treatment to jackets, which usually makes them shrink, and then don't mention that when selling it. I'm not saying that this seller is doing such, but somewhere down the line it was treated. Here are some photos back in May of 2007 when it was new:

As for value, it's not a high-end copy of an Aero, so it wouldn't get the same final value that better horsehide and sewing, along with patterning and parts, would get.

Thanks,
John

This is one of my favourite contracts that John makes, i love the horween horse hide that has a reddish colour that wears through, and the hot water treatment has imo totally ruined the leather.

John, is this the Horween "Mustang" leather my RW 27752 is made with?

John, you are too modest. I think you are over 6' tall! :D
