glued bombs on an A-2 ?

I've never seen glued bombs before ! :shock:

Different and cool idea. There are also 37 or 38 bombs, so quite a few missions and over and beyond the requirements.

Depends on the theater. MTO would do 50 or so missions and ETO was 25 to 35. My dad's copilot volunteered for two more missions while they were waiting to be sent stateside after their 35th mission. He wanted some missions as a command pilot. There was another pilot in the 388th BG that came back for a second tour and had over 50 missions by the end of the war. My dad was training in B-29s on VJ day.

Here is part of the crew after an orientation flight to become familiar with the procedures for formations and landmarks. Dad is the tall farm boy standing on the left. The copilot had the camera and just shows up as a shadow...

I had a painted A-2 a few years ago and the B-25 pilot flew 70 missions. :cool:
