One of my favorite wartime immages of the A-2 jacket. General Timberlake. Still learning to use Potobucket so if this doesn't work bear with me Please.
Aah, Ted Timberlake of 'Ted's Travelling Circus', the 93rd BG.
Every time I see a pic of a guy wearing a D-1, they've always got the sleeves rolled up at the bottom. Were they made with particularly long sleeves, or was it just to keep them out of the way when working on engines, etc.?
Ha! Good call Chandler. When my father was in the USAF in the lat 70's through the 80's he said he felt like a bus driver when he had to wear his class A uniform.
There's a great post-war cartoon by Bill Mauldin of his Willie & Joe characters -- they've landed jobs as filling station attendants (remember those?) and are showing off their "new uniforms" to the station owner. Seems they've purchased visor hats from two AF vets to add to their ensemble!
