G-1 Labels - Determining dates of manufacture

Hello,

searched the forum on this subject, but couldn't find a discussion of just how the date of a flight jacket, like the G-1, is determined. The number sequences are long, but is there a code or simply 1 or 2 numbers somewhere in that mix that determines the year made? Hoping to learn a lot from this gas I am clearly new to the game here. of the 2 jackets that I have, I was been told 1 is 1970's and 1 is 1980's which is great - just trying to learn a bit and get better educated.

thanks!

Moore Custom.com (Roger Moore's site) has been gone for quite awhile now. There is some archived here:

Here's screenshots from the archive showing some helpful info:

Have what I believe is a 1970's G1 (Brill Bros.) but the leather feels much lighter than the other Brill Bros I have from the later 1980's - also has a more kind of wrinkled appearance so im wondering, any chance that 1970's jacket could be goatskin? Wish I could post a picture of the label - have yet to figure out any way to do that easily.
