And very generously offering free worldwide shipping too. That should certainly help.

Unless you're in Russia or China. ;)

I like this jacket a lot, and the dimensions are just about perfect for me. If only I had a few hundred extra bucks lying around.

How many original A-2s were made in seal goat, anyway? Can't be that many.

I am lucky enough to have many great jackets but as we all know, they can pile up if not careful. I have to say, this is a really nice jacket, the hide is in excellent shape. As I mentioned in the listing and as I have eluded to on the forum, don't let this more obscure contract fool you, its a terrific jacket and I you are partial to the darker seal brown jackets, an original like this is just excellent. The goat is SUPER lightweight, it almost feels like a cloth jacket when worn. I purchased this from john Chapman who used it for his F.O. pattern jacket.

OK, enough of the sales pitch

Do you mean the goatskin Seal contracts, or the number of seal goatskin jackets made in each contract?

If you mean the former here are the russet goatskin contracts:

W535ac18091 Rough Wear
W535ac23377 Perry late

W535ac27798 Dubow-Mainly horse hide, but some goatskin-seal and russet
W535ac29191 Bronco- " " " " " "
W535ac29971 unknown (David D Doniger)
42-10008-P Cable-mainly goatskin
42-21539-P David D. Doniger & Co.

Seal goatskin:-
W535ac23383 unknown (Fried Ostermann)
42-18776-P Spiewak
If you mean the latter, then the size of each seal goatskin contract is not known.

Thanks for the info, Andrew. I just meant that the vast majority of goatskin A-2s I've seen have been russet, which is somewhat curious given that there was enough seal goat available to make all the Navy jackets.

cheers

Nice jacket. Good luck with it.

Andrew, I think you're on to something regarding the Navy jackets using up all the seal goatskin. ;)
