Pilot's ad in the personals - looking for female pilot with plane - should also have airplane mechanics rating - send pics of plane.

Do ya think Michelle, one of our first VLJ Victory Girls, would qualify ?

Michelle is preparing to fly in the 35th Anniversary of the Air Race Classics, to honor her heroes, Amelia Earhart and the Ninety-Nines's.

This is the plane Michelle will be flying.

I'd forgotten about Michelle - looks like she has moved on to faster times also in the Mooney 201???? Dare I say it - both are pretty sleek looking.

Cheers,
Bill French

Ummmm...Bill that's not a Mooney, unless the pic is from a really bad angle.

You ain't got an excuse either because there's no distracting VLJ Victory Girl in the cockpit.

You're absolutely correct - I was looking at the landing gear and figured the trailing beam was Mooney - but then again most of the Mooney line didn't have wheel well door covers.

Now I'd guess a PA-28R

Michelle is currently a flying instructor, skydiver pilot and preparing for the Air Race Classic in June. Last week she told me instead of just flying the plane, she decided to try skydiving herself and signed up for a jump (another pilot flew the plane)...that's our Michelle.
This is from her previous photo shoot as our first VLJ Victory Girl.

For those of you who'll ask, I forgot what kind of plane that is in the picture. The jacket is a RM painted by a Japanese artist. ;)

No one ever accused me of being a gentleman, I hope this lady is not a members girl. So here goes. She has a face that would launch a thousand ships, and an arse to die for. One last thing, was this jacket distressed by the mfg? unfortunately it did not turn out well.

I agree with you about the jacket. The inconsistent 'antique-distressing' was done by the artist, it looks like he sandpapered random areas of the jacket. Forum members suggested I Pecard the jacket to see if it would bring the jacket back a little. I bought the jacket pre-painted and paid a reasonable price due to the damaged hide. I really liked the artwork and just accepted it for what it was. ;)

Well, the jacket looks great on her...why not let her have it? Good fit, too!

I gave her a CWU-45p nomex jacket which was more practical. She told me, on one cross country flight to deliver a plane, she landed at a small airport to fuel up, but none was around. She over nighted in the plane until she could gas up in the morning. She said she was glad she had that insulated nomex jacket.

Hey Marcel, Michelle is flattered and appreciates your compliments. Many other people on the web have the same opinion you do. I've had a request from a commercial website that has their own pin-up girls ask permission to post her pic...Michelle just has what you would say, je ne sais quoi quality. She said she wants to do another photo shoot, but has been really busy preparing her plane for the Air Race Classics*, flight instructor, and on weekends, out of town sky diver pilot.

Women’s air racing all started in 1929 with the First Women’s Air Derby. Twenty pilots raced from Santa Monica, CA to Cleveland, OH, site of the National Air Races. Racing continued through the ‘30’s and was renewed again after WWII when the All Women’s Transcontinental Air Race (AWTAR), better known as the Powder Puff Derby, came into being. The AWTAR held its 30th, final and commemorative flight in 1977. When the AWTAR was discontinued, the Air Race Classic, Ltd., (ARC) stepped in to continue the tradition of transcontinental speed competition for women pilots and staged its premier race. The Air Race Classic was reincorporated in 2002 into the Air Race Classic, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
