Flying Jacket Identification & Dating Help Required

Hi all, so I’m a newbie here and wondered if you guys could help me with identifying and dating a flying jacket that came into my possession a few years back.

I’m pretty sure this is post 1977 as the label says it’s an RAF Irvin flying jacket produced by Aviation Leathercraft.
As you can see it has great pantina but also seems to be in half decent condition.

I’m considering selling so if any of you could give me any idea of potential value that would be great as I don’t really have much of an idea and don’t want to under price it.

thank you in advance

Your jacket is a reproduction of a WWII RAF (Royal Air Force )Irvin flight jacket . It’s a well know reproduction and depending on the condition its worth about $300.00 to $400.00 US . What size is it ?

Thanks so much for this info, really appreciate your feedback. Do you know if there’s any way to date it at all?

Just an educated guess, but it was probably made sometime in the early 1990s . I’ll ask again , what size is it?

It's got the current style label which has been in use for well over 20 years. Judging by the wear it's at least a couple of decades old.

Not the most accurate to a wartime Irvin but those Aviation Leathercraft jackets are exceedingly well made and warm. Great winter jacket if you're not after out and out authenticity.

Okay great, thank you!
The size label is very faded but from what I can make out it’s a 36
Ok the reason I asked is sometimes the size of the jacket can add additional value to the selling price. Larger sized jackets bring a bit more money.

Ahhh I see, that makes sense.
What do you reckon is a fair price for this jacket then, I’m unsure how much to advertise it for?

No offence Sam but it's frowned on here to give valuations to new members who just pop up to post a jacket and try and get the experience of those here to do the work for them.

If you go into Ebay and do a search for completed sales on Aviation Leathercraft Irvins you'll soon get an idea.

Once again not trying to be mean but members get a bit peeved by people just popping up to try and get a valuation and then buggering off.

Stay around if you have an interest in vintage jackets.

Oh no problem, that’s totally understandable. Please know that the last thing I’d want to do is cause any offence.

Tbh i have been tempted to keep it but it’s a fraction too small for me so not really much use. Having said that if it was a genuine war era jacket I’d definitely keep it.

Thanks for the info, really is much appreciated

You're welcome Sam. If you're after an Irvin there's a lot of chaps around here who have them and from various makers and including wartime originals. If you want to know more about them then you've come to the right place.

If that one's too small (a travesty with an Irvin - they should be slightly oversized to allow layering and they look silly if they're trim fitting) sell that one and have a hunt for one your size. If you want more accuracy you can go for an ELC or Aero, or even an original.

Hope you stick around.
