Thanks Andrew. I never replaced the missing cuffs on the tattered, painted 11631. I dyed waist band material as well but don't fancy tackling that yet. There might be such a tremendous contrast that I'll have no choice.

Scott,
Sorry, I missed the question. The cuffs started as medium brown - the middle set shown in the first post. I bought several sets of knits last year so was confident in experimenting. First color combo and I thought it looked fairly representative of how I think they might have been - not so much purple but brown with the purple being a part of the dye - a part which faded less than the other colors and therefore comes out even more when "washed out". Just my interpretation.
Platon,
Bleach, as I understand, will often cause material to not take further dye so I've seldom used it when coloring textiles. I simply tinted these in a hot stovetop bath.
George,
High praise coming from you. Thanks.
Could not have done it without reference pics from Mark. It isn't difficult to do at all but is just a bit time consuming and results could be perceived as less than stellar if the lining is tattered and salty as in this case. I went with leaving it as it was except with new cuffs. I'm sure that's why many makers don't advertise the service.
Next, I'll replace the medium brown cuffs on a goatskin Perry.
