Would love to step back in time and take a couple of items out of that plane!!The guy wearing the D-1(pic is backwards I think)look at the big seam on his chest!

That dates it to pre- or very early WW2. Note the chalkstripe flannels on the man in the B-3, presumably a civilian test pilot or engineer.

Shame Stu isn't keeping dates on these. LIFE almost always dates their pix.

BTW, Stewart Field is now Stewart Airport, a regional stop serving the Newburgh-Poughkeepsie area.
