Andrew,

I know I have no knowledge of the "Dark Side" and certainly have never worn one never mind owning any of these types of jackets but it does not look good to me.

When you see a close up of the leather tape the pink tones are not to bad but from a distance !!!
Its a Pink jacket with some brown bits in the middle.

John's latest jacket detailed in the current post on the otherhand looks more "manly" and seems such an excellent fit.
Now thats more like it.

I think I will stay secure in my little world of A1 and A2's a little longer.

Alan you are quite correct about the seam tapes looking less pink in the close-up shot. This is a strange jacket and should not prevent you from venturing over to the "dark side"! You could easily pick up an original in your size. Now is good time to buy as the prices have fallen back with the warmer weather.

Isn't it advertised as being an early type Irvin with fewer body panels? It looks like it's got a fair few to me?

The seller has incorrectly advertised it as the 1940 model, Ian. This 1942 four panel jacket most likely pre-dates ELC's 1940 pattern.

The flash photography is surely giving an unrealistic impression of the jacket...the guy looks more like a bearded action man than a real person! When using flash (or even when not) it's always a good idea to do some tinkering in photoshop...just basic stuff like adjusting the brightness and contrast and getting the colours as close as possible to the actual item.

I have had jackets with this colouration of panel and seam tape. It's a pig to photograph easily as the tapes always appear too brown or red.
