eBay hacked

Yep my wife just deleted without opening a phishing email asking her 'dear customer please follow this link and confirm your eBay details'. Sadly some people believe this type of email in fact I read that they deliberately put customer even if they know the name of the account holder and often deliberately include mis-spellings to filter out the least gullible.

Getting worse. Fortunately I do not need to sell on eBay now, as I have inherited $35,000,000 from a Nigerian relative!

trust no one!!

As it turns out as of today ebay has not been able to solve the hacking of accounts by criminals.
Tonight I found three legit looking listings for Nikon tele lenses, all from the same accout, that included in its description a BIN outside ebay, and please write to so an so email address ( [email protected] in my case) to finalize the transaction.
I did so, and hey presto, all three listings disappeared not even ten minutes after i received a reply from them to give my ebay name and address information.
The items involved were lenses that usually fetch like 2000-3000 GBP but were offered for 1000 GBP, provided no bids were made.
So I wrote another message to the feller who's account I thought might have been hacked and sure enough I got his reply five minutes later that by now he had been the victim of 186 fraudulent listings at his account.
I also replied to the frauds if they could send me some extra pics, and so they did.
Ebay is working on it. Sure.

A lot of this stuff comes from gullible people's daft responses to scam emails like the one I got this morning 'Dear customer your Pay Pal account is at risk of being frozen ....... Please copy this address into your browser ......
They deliberately don't even put your name even if they know it as they want to filter out the clever ones and target the gullible.
