Aside from the old hideous smooth hide, and the wallet bulge in the
left pocket, is there something blatantly obvious about this one?

$400? Seems a bargain to me?

For the price I shall never complain. I THINK it might be one Andrew sold several years ago. Will confirm the number. It is amazing how many jackets go through several forum member's hands prior to an extended stay somewhere. Most of the GWs are 46-48 so they are not popping up in my size. If I deploy in the new year I shall be putting a couple of orders in to JC. Rule is one brand new jacket when I deploy, tax free SGT pay surely allow a second. Time will tell. Could be prudent to order now possibly? :? Will post some more pics when I get my hands on the Monarch. Even contemplating a shipping hop directly to Ties? Decisions, decisions...

I found I got some good results by working the leather (a lot). Not as much as some of the higher grained leathers but it loses that smooth look.
I noticed it's not the 352nd one, which I think were made after some asked for a Monarch without them after the initial release. I like both though.

Good buy there Trevor. I have owned two size 42 Monarch's made from this earlier hide and it could be the first I owned 7 years ago. I notice the original NOS Talon zip has been replaced with a repro Talon.

The ELC Monarch arrived today after taking a one month sea cruise to get here. DHL Economy? Airmail would have been better... Very pleased with the jacket. Just getting some Dubbin onto some scuffs. Will get some pics soon...
