As one of these was up for sale a while ago I thought I'd post these...not sure who the other office is, I'm sure one of you know. Enjoy

All the best

This was not the jacket which sold recently as that was a RW. This is his no-name Cable-27753. It's great to see such close-up pics of the jacket in colour. Thanks Stu.

I like the way the color shows the variation between the light brown of Mac Arthur's jacket, and the dark seal of the other officer's.

Absolutely, my thoughts exactly. As well as this:

Incredible that you can pick out all the creases in the photo and compare with the jacket as it is today. ;)

The photo of the RW today is incredible as well. I missed that sale. Was it on Ebay or an Auction house? Just curious how much it went for?

There's no mistaking that it's the same jacket is there? Almost every crease in the photo is visible in the colour shot.

The 32,500 was much less than I know was expected. Hopefully a museum got it.
They opened it at first with a 50-75k estimate!

Baggiest arms I've ever seen on a vintage A2 - by request I wonder?
Great pics as always Stu.

This particular Cable contract had large sleeves relative to the body of the jacket. I used to own a size 46 and the arms were both long and wide. I wonder what size MacArthur's jacket was, a 46 perhaps? His RW was a 44 and he had filled out a bit since he was issued the RW in WW2.

Any idea which contract the seal A2 is?

The closeup shot of that 1-star General is also interesting to me from a non-jacket perspective. Notice that his pre-war sterling silver dogtag chain is worn outside his shirt, under the collar, and tucked-in. A WW2 vet, Major Bill Larkin, told me all his aviator squadron mates did this, because the chafing of the chain against a sunburnt neck would be unbearable, especially day after day. I have never noticed it in a wartime photo before, but there it is! Thanks Stu.
