Can you help me identify this Schott (?) jacket?

I just picked this up and the gentleman said he bought it new in college. He's about 75-80 years old, so maybe a 1960s jacket. The label is torn off, but you can see where it says "manufacturers of fine sportswear"

Is there a way you guys can help me identify it? Thanks!

Ah, great! Thanks. Did that just before this post. I didn't include the Talon zipper nor the Rau Fasteners. But I will. Thank you.

I think because he put a question mark after Schott, that was just his best guess. And it’s not a bad guess, since it’s a black leather jacket that, to judge by the cleaning tag, was probably made somewhere in the area of New York/New Jersey (I doubt a California Sportswear, for example, would instruct you to have it cleaned in New Jersey).

The label looks like the remnants of the one on the top left, second one over. Same shape, and the wording is identical ("Manufacturers of fine sportswear"), placed at the very bottom of the label. Plus the bits of red threading at the edges seems the same. That's why I thought Schott.

Really cool jacket. I’ve been trawling for a while and can’t find one the same, except this:-
Which is close, not identical. And obviously isn’t a Schott. Do you know for sure that’s what it is? I also can’t find a Schott label anywhere with that wording at the bottom.

Amazing you found that. Very similar, especially the "D" shaped stitching around the pockets. if it wasn't for the zipper and label, I would think it's the same jacket.

Here's a close up of that label. Notice the shape, the placement of the 'fine sportswear' statement, and the red threading along the edge. I don't know, it seems like the same label...

Yeah I think you're right about that label. The Oakbrook has elasticated waist panels round the back-does yours?

Here's the back. I don't see any elasticated area. Additionally, the color is a dark, dark brown. I have some vintage black ones, and this one doesn't seem true black. I can't seem to get it right in the photos...

The leather is thick, heavy, and very pliable. Seems like a very good quality piece.

Not sure why the forum cuts off the bottom of the image when I click it on my laptop, but if you control-click on it you can open it in a new tab and see the bottom of the jacket better.

If you click on the number under the photo rather than the actual photo, you’ll see the entire photo .

The Oakbrook and yours are similar, but not the same. I think you’ve got it right with the label, it’s a Schott all right. Perhaps Schott themselves can tell you which model-they did one called an Eisenhower with similar front pockets, but not quite the same.

That's amazing you found that Oakbrook one. They're almost the same jacket. (someone copying someone?)

I googled the Eisenhower jacket, and you're right. Very similar D pockets and the rear top horizontal stitching seems spot on.Thanks.

I osted in Schott but no answer yet.

If it's a Schott, how would I determine its value ballpark? under $100, over $100?
