Cool NYT article on the discovery and restoration of C-47 That's All, Brother that according to the article led the main formation on D-Day. Scroll down and there's a cool b&w clip of 101st paratroops loading up prior to along with a cameo of That's All Brother. There's also a couple of B-3 clad air crew along with the paratroopers. It'll be cool to see this veteran in the air again soon!

Hmm, something to contemplate, I keep telling myself to visit the Normandy beaches and sites connected to D-Day so might have to put that on next years itinerary, it's quite easy to do from South East England where I live!

Those are neat planes. My mom was a Stewardess for Western airlines, and the DC-3 was a fantastic plane. She has many stories of those days, including engines hit by lightning and flying with only one. It's still one of my favorite planes in either guise. Thanks for posting that. When I took my son and wife on the Aluminum Overcast - B-17 in 2009, it was one of the coolest things ever!

I had the real pleasure to fly in one many years ago taking off from Biggin Hill, south of London on a glorious sunny day and flew over central London so could see pretty much all the capital sites ( inc my house en route). Real nostalgic 30 mins I must say, the sound, the smell and while not cheap it was a little tribute to my late Dad who I know would have loved it as he often came to airshows with me.

Love this bird...The French Air Force plus many others...used ( enjoyed) them until mid. 60s.
A few of them still on scrap yards ( unfortunately) here in South East Asia.
Two of them inbetween Bangkok and Pattaya next to the highway...wonder how long.
