Brill Bros G1 NSN question

Hello Guys !
I received my vintage G1 brill bros and I’m searching information from the label.
It looks like it is a 1975 one but when I request the database it says NSN assign : 1 Jan 1963...what does it mean exactly ?

Thanks, but can someone tell me what mean the NSN Assign ?
Does it mean that is the same model as in 1963 production ?

NSN defines an item. Specifically, this number is a G-1 jacket. The specification of the jacket, which determines its nuances and parameters is indicated above on the label, in your case it is MIL-J-7832E (AS)

It’s not the same as a ‘63 G-1. In 1963 they were using real mouton collars, not Dynel. This one is probably cowhide too, whereas in 1963 it would have been goat. I have one like that, I like it better than the older G-1’s I’ve had.

Thanks i like also the cattlehide leather it looks & feel stronger...also on my search it says mouton collar...

Exactly. NSN only determines that this is a G-1 jacket. Used leather, the mouton collar or not, etc., is determined by the specification.
1963 is the year when the number was entered in the NSN base.

For clarification the NSN number is the National Stock Number. Every government agency has a national stock number indexing system that they can purchase or obtain items through . Sort of like a government sales catalogue index. Just about everything the US government contracts for, has an NSN number. The NSN number identifies the item being requested or purchased through the use of a requisition form.
