Black G-1’s existed?

Hello everyone, recently, I’ve seen a special version of a BR G-1 entirely in black, made in collaboration with William Gibson. It reminded me that, some time ago, I’ve seen some companies (like Cockpit USA) proposing a black G-1, called “Submariner G-1”.
As far as I know, M-422As and G-1 had been in many colors (mostly shades of brown) but not in black. Did black G-1s really existed?
Thank you for your attention and have a good day.

Hi Freddy
No ......black G-1s were never issued USN jackets .
Buzz Rickson occasionally takes some liberties with some of their “Military Jackets” and tweaks them up a bit .

The Black William Gibson stuff comes from one of Gibson’s books, ‘Pattern Recognition’, where the heroine wore a black Buzz Rickson MA-1-which they didn’t actually make at the time. After BR got deluged with requests for black MA-1’s, they approached Gibson and created the William Gibson line of black jackets and accessories. They’re all pretty accurate repros, except they’re black, which pretty much no originals were. Cockpit USA stuff has next to no connection with historical accuracy. They have created some utter howlers, very, very loosely based on military jackets. They are not alone in this, mind you. Schott are probably worse, and the high street has seen all manner of abominations under the banner of ‘flight jacket’.
