Billy Crystal -- is this an ANJ-3?

Happened to run across a screen capture from the movie When Harry Met Sally, and noticed that Billy Crystal is wearing what looks to my untrained eye like an ANJ-3 (it was the bi-swing back that caught my eye). I did a little more looking, and it seems like he also wore this jacket (or one just like it) in City Slickers. Photos attached, for reference.

Probably no way to tell, but maybe this is his own personal jacket, maybe there's a back story? (Or maybe he just liked it?)

Anyway, thought it was interesting and unexpected. A few weeks ago I never would have noticed, so I assume this means you all are a bad influence on me.

There seems to be hand warmer pockets on his jacket (see pic 2). Perhaps a 90s Avirex/Cockpit repro?

My wife is noticing our credit card bill and asking why I'm always looking at pictures of people in old jackets. Can't a guy just have a good old-fashioned mid-life crisis in peace anymore?

I'll tell you who I think does wear an AN-J-3 in a film, and that's Andy Garcia in When a man loves a woman. A-2 style with epaulettes, name tag, bars, and I think an AAF decal. I thought it was an A-2 until I saw the bi-swing. Struggling to find a pic right now, but it looks original, and very cool.

Those Anj-3 type jackets were not uncommon in the 80’s. They had the faux distressing and a leather collar. Sometimes a seam straight down the back.
