Sparked by Burt's mention of Lucian Truscott, I started digging around for images and stumbled on an interesting one.

Truscott with British general Alexander... who seems to have eschewed the Irvin for a B-3! Maybe he just wanted a pocket. ;)

The following image is in regards to James Whitmore portraying Admiral Halsey. Taken from the 1970 movie TORA! TORA! TORA!. Seen wearing what I have identified as an original (pre War) Monarch.M-422.

I doubt many viewers of this same flick have ever noticed that this jacket was correct for the time frame. In any event, it is nice to see that extra bit of emphasis on authenticity by the film maker.

Cheers, Dave

Col de Gaulle of 5th Army presents D2 tanks of the 19th Tank Battalion to President Lebrun. This is cheating a little bit because CdG's jacket was an issue modèle 1935 tank jacket, rather than a vintage one. They're great looking jackets, though.

Typically seen oversized because they were meant to fit multiple layers underneath, in winter. When I had my repro made, I went 2 sizes up, to get the same look.

Here's a not great picture, taken on a freezing cold day in Sopot. The jacket was about a week old at this point.

And this is an idea of how oversized they often were:
