Back in the A-2 game

Well, several years after selling the last one, I’ve just pulled the trigger on this-what looks like an early ELC House A-2. Not sure if it’s horse or steer (don’t really care), from the brass Talon it looks older than mine from 1997. Good nick apart from the knits which I can sort, maybe down the line I’ll get them replaced. No patches so I can go mad! Cheapest I’ve seen an ELC for a long time, so decided to go for it. Could be an investment the way their prices are going!

Saw that one, congrats, good price! Sew the knits up and live with it for a bit?
Oh sure. I have no problem with a bit of darning, and pristine knits aren’t an issue for me anyway. The wrist knits on my last ELC A-2 were trashed, I didn’t change them for years. I may get around to it if these get knackered, but it’s not a big deal for me.

Grab one or two of those printed patches everyone is raving about! (too soon?)..

Great find.. Enjoy it..

Well to my great surprise it arrived today. I think it's safe to say I'm well pleased. As stated, it's an old one, predating my previous 1997 example. I'm pretty certain it's steer, it's very similar to my old one and not as thin and flexible as horse. Ring snaps, not the nipple snaps my old one had. Zip is one of the old, plastic-reinforced, ugly square Talons.
The moths have had a good go at the waist knit, a lot more holes than were in the description, but most are inside and I've sewn them all up, so it doesn't detract too much. Otherwise condition is outstanding, No wear at all to the leather, hardly any to the lining. It's not really properly broken in, although there's grain appearing in several places. Fit probably couldn't be much better. Less tunneling to the sleeves than my old one, and that was made for me.
I may look into pricing for knit replacement and possibly getting rid of that old Talon, the nickel one on my old ELC was streets ahead of this one. I'm almost certainly going to send it in for a nametag, as I always like to have one, may have the other stuff done as well. On the whole though, it's really nice to have another decent A-2.

Cheers Burt, yes, it is I. Decided it was time to retire the 'tache for a bit. My wife has always hated it. I wanted a cleaner, more simple look. So far I've not heard many howls of protest that it's gone. We' ll see, the 'tache may rise again.

Talking about courier only :D - DHL cooperates with the Austrian Post in Austria in what they call DHL Parcel Service. You cannot opt for that, they do it by default! -I still remember the great experience sorting it out with the Austrian post where they left my A-2 I got from Bryce...could have come from the pen of Monty Python...
