Avirex Mall Jacket Final Bid

This Avirex mall jacket (the kind I used to collect and still do if they're under $ 125 and sz S) went for what I thought was a crazy high price.

Pre-Christmas there were a lot of handpainted jackets and 'mo better' A-2 repros on eBay. Many of them went 2 or 3 relistings with no bids, each time the seller reducing the price, before they were sold.

So a mass produced Avirex, oversized lambskin jacket with silk screened artwork is more collectible than a one of a kind hand painted repro A-2. I gotta luv it since I accumulate both kinds. I'm still kind of embarrassed that I didn't buy anything, even though I liked at least a half dozen jackets offered for sale and they all went for bargain rates...whoops, I forgot I did buy one jacket. It was an Avirex, mass produced mall jacket...and I got it for my low ball bid of $ 107.50. I hope it was the size that kept the price down. An Avirex Small in these jackets is equivalent to a big loose medium in any other repro.

Thanks for the link, I like the jacket art even though it doesn't have a dame to go with the name and the plane, but it's one size too big.

I noticed this jacket had a p-47 Jug for the same FG. Many years ago, when I could still paint, I did a jacket for a client, a P-51 Mustang, "Big Beautiful Doll". I threw in a painted 78th FG patch, an 8th AF patch and a stamped name tag as a bonus (he hadn't asked for them, but I wasn't exactly what anyone would call a good businessman, I did it just because I liked painted jackets.)
