Another WOW!! An early L-2B

I looked at this one, but didn't consider bidding because it's too big and in my experience the Skyline C runs very short in the body. In any case, this jacket isn't rare enough to command such a price--or is it?

I sometimes wonder if the market is rebounding after all . . .

this was part of a large estate that went on eBay this last week. that jacket is not rare, but the rank, patches, ID of the veteran I think all played in the push up of the price. His P-4B helmet went for over $1200.00 I have not seen a helmet like that go over a $1000 in about 6 months.

what was more interesting I think was the Test lab flight suit the Doc had, and the seller put up only commanded the starting bid $175? :?

I really thought it would go much much higher. I t was a cross between a USAF dress uniform and a flight suit really quite rare.

But, Jim you are right.....maybe the market is showing signs of swelling...

Dan, I certainly agree that the insignia made a difference in price but I think the Ebay feeding-frenzy phenomenon was a factor. A couple years back I won an AF colonel's grouping consisting of a D-model L-2B with white-on-sage rank, leather nameplate, and large twill SAC patch, as well as an early K-2B flightsuit with USAF decal, named '69 helmet bag, and 3 colored scarves--all for around $250. Perhaps that was on the low end of the price scale, but as much as I'd like to see the economy improve I was hoping the era of $650+ sage flight jackets was gone forever.

Here's a crappy pic of the jacket I mentioned:

I sure let my patched, named, XL Rolen go for much less than that. I hope the market rebounding. I've got a bunch of nylon jackets that need to find new homes!

Rebounding? I think so, too! It's like the bloody fedoras! Once you got'em for song, then it's a symphony. Don't love market dynamics?
